Well Guide
Descend floor by floor and earn as you go deeper: the run model, weekly rewards, chests and your depth record.
The Well is Kanveay's second floor-by-floor dungeon mode. It comes from the same family as the Dark Lair, but its rhythm is entirely different: where the Dark Lair says "a lot of risk and a lot of reward in a short time" with a steep reward curve, the Well is a game of long, steady descent on a gentler one. On this page we take apart every gear of the Well one by one: how the run model works, what the weekly reward gate means, the rhythm of chest and boss floors, how the item drop chance is calculated, and where your depth record places you in the rankings. For an overview of the dungeon family see the Dungeons and PvE guide; if you are curious how the fights themselves are resolved, see the Combat System guide.
🪣 The run model: every descent starts on floor 1
The Well is played as a run. Every time you enter, you start on floor 1, and each victory carries you one floor down: 1, 2, 3... The deeper you go, the stronger the enemy you meet. The moment you lose a fight that run is over; on your next attempt you begin the descent again from floor 1.
That may sound harsh, but there is a crucial detail here: the run resets, your record does not. The deepest floor you reach is written permanently to your account. So even if you lose on floor 40, your "deepest: 40" entry stands; the rankings and badges look at that record. This is exactly the Well's long-term goal — pushing your record a little deeper every week.
⚡ Cost: fixed, and it does not rise with depth
The Well's most player-friendly rule is its cost. Each floor descent takes 10 energy plus 1 quest point, and that price does not change whichever floor you are on. Descending to floor 3 costs the same energy as descending to floor 43. The reward, meanwhile, grows with every floor — so the deeper you go, the more each unit of energy returns. That turns the Well into a game of "whoever can go deeper wins": on the same energy budget, someone who reaches floor 30 earns considerably more than someone who stops at 10.
Your energy refills 1 per 60 seconds and your quest points 1 per 600 seconds; with premium membership both fill fifty per cent faster. Because your resource caps grow with your level, much longer runs become possible in one sitting at higher levels. For the finer points of resource management, take a look at the Economy guide.
💰 Floor gold: a gentle but steadily growing curve
Each floor's gold reward is calculated from a base value that scales with your level, and it rises by roughly eight per cent per floor. Next to the Dark Lair's steep curve of twenty per cent per room that may look mild; but thanks to the Well's fixed cost and more approachable enemies it is a very steady source of income overall. There are three milestones along the curve: floors 25, 50 and 100 carry an extra slice of reward, while boss floors pay about one and a half times a normal floor.
The general reward rules apply in the Well too: if you are in the newcomer period your gold is doubled, and with premium membership you receive twenty-five per cent extra. Gold from the Well also counts towards the loot ranking.
📅 The weekly reward gate: everything refreshes on Monday
This is the Well's most misunderstood rule, so let us be precise: a floor pays a reward once per week. The game keeps, for each week, a record of how deep you have already been paid. When you start a second run in the same week, you still fight your way through the floors you have already been paid for, but you receive no gold, XP or item; the rewards only start flowing again on the floors where you go past your deepest point for that week.
This marker resets every Monday — in the new week every floor pays again. Your depth record is untouched by the refresh; that one is permanent. In practice this means the Well rewards a player who makes at least one deep run a week. Planning a long descent at the start of the week, while your resources are full, is the highest return the Well has to offer.
One more exception: quest counters advance on every victory, independently of the reward gate. So even on floors you are repeating, the "Well floor" counters of your weekly and monthly quests keep filling. For the details of the quest packages, the Quests guide is the place to go.
🎁 The chest and boss rhythm
The Well's descent is punctuated by special moments on particular floors:
| Every 5th floor | A chest floor — on your first arrival that week, the floor's reward is doubled. |
| Every 10th floor | A boss floor — a noticeably stronger enemy, paying roughly 1.5× gold in return. |
| Floors 25 / 50 / 100 | Milestones — an additional slice is added to the reward. |
That rhythm gives you natural targets when planning a run. If your energy is running down, "descend to the next multiple of 5, take the chest, then stop" is a good rule. And do not forget to check your health as you approach a boss floor — boss fights are the riskiest moments of a run, and if you lose, the run ends there.
🗡️ Item drop chance: depth grows the loot
Clearing a rewarded floor also carries a chance of an item drop: the chance starts at eight per cent, rises by 0.3 per floor and caps at twenty-five per cent. So deep floors mean not only more gold but more frequent loot. Two fine rules: an item can only drop on the week's first pass (repeat a floor and you get gold and XP but no item), and premium gear never drops in the Well — premium equipment is obtained only through its own channels. Dropped items are picked to suit your level and come from pieces you do not already own; for how to equip and sell them, see the inventory section of the Economy guide.
✨ Experience: depth grows the XP too
Well XP is also tied to the energy index: the XP value of the 10 energy you spend grows with a multiplier that rises two per cent per floor as you descend. By floor 50 that means double the base XP. For players in the newcomer period XP is doubled as well; levelling up completely refills your energy and health — a level-up arriving in the middle of a long run is a sweet surprise that can stretch the run by another lap.
🏆 The depth record and the rankings
The Well has its own ranking tab, sorted by depth record. What is more, only real players are listed there — every name you see has genuinely descended to those floors. Because the record is permanent, the Well ranking works like a kind of career table: once you have reached floor 60, that record keeps representing you even through a bad week.
🛡️ For newcomers: the first floors are waiting
The first 3 floors of the Well are deliberately very easy — a safe practice area for learning the system's rhythm. You can start descending even at a low level and get used to seeing chest floors and settling into the weekly rhythm early. Combined with the newcomer period's double gold and double XP, the Well becomes one of the fastest ways for a new account to grow.
⚖️ The Well or the Dark Lair?
They are sibling systems, but their characters differ:
- Cost: the Well asks 10 energy plus 1 quest point per floor; the Dark Lair 12 energy plus 1 quest point per room. In neither does the price rise with depth.
- Reward curve: the Dark Lair has the game's steepest gold curve at twenty per cent per room; the Well's eight per cent curve is gentler but balanced by its steady low cost.
- Item chance: in the Dark Lair the chance grows faster and reaches a higher cap; the Well is more measured.
- What they share: the run model, the weekly reward gate, a chest every 5, a boss every 10 and a permanent depth record are identical in both.
In short: if you want an aggressive, high-return session, the Dark Lair; if you want a regular, predictable line of progress, the Well. Most players run both — two separate weekly gates mean two separate reward pools.
🎯 Efficiency tactics
- Plan one deep run a week. Because the reward gate refreshes on Monday, the most efficient pattern is one long descent a week while your resources are full. Floors you repeat in the same week still pay, but only a fraction of the full reward — since the real gains lie in the first pass, the chest floors and the item drop chance, one deep run a week is still the most efficient pattern.
- Get stronger before the run. Setting off your race's ritual right before a run gives all your stats a temporary bonus; the 30-minute stat potions from the shop work in the same window. Details in the Dungeons guide.
- Aim for the chest floors. If your energy is limited, ending the run on a multiple of 5 doubles the return on the last energy you spent.
- Check your state before a boss floor. If your health is low, ending the run voluntarily before the boss is better than losing and leaving the week half-finished. Health regenerates on its own over time.
- Do not neglect your stats. What sets your depth limit is not energy but combat power. Intelligence's first-strike priority significantly reduces the total damage you take on long runs — for stat investment see the Mine and Training guide.
- Make your quest counters count twice. The weekly and monthly quest packages include Well floor targets; your Well runs fill both their own reward and the quest package at the same time.
One last reminder: you can run the Well while you are in the mine — the shift no longer locks any action page, it runs in the background. For other frequently asked questions, the FAQ page is always at hand.
